The Lostie-a-Day-a-Thon : [link] Dr. Marvin Candle. Dr. Mark Wickmund. Dr. Edgar Halliwax. Dr. Pierre Chang. Mile's Dad. That douche. For a solid three seasons, Pierre Chang was a figure most enigmatic. His brief appearances from the past, leering with his double-bagged eyes from behind scratchy film, was somehow enthralling and chilling and exciting and downright CREEPY. He seemed to represent a deep-seeded mystery so crucial to Lost... well, he was its voice. It's voice that maybe didn't speak an understandable language, but was trying to tell you something. He was the only real 'voice' of DHARMA for quite some time. There was always something vaguely sad about the clippits of film, too. Not quite nostalgic, but rather a grim acknowledgement that DHARMA was long gone. Slowly, as the story unfolded, things started to come together. I was VERY happy that Dr. Chang became a 'current' character in season 5. It was so cool to see (Candle...Wickmund... Halliwax... the man so mysterious his name kept changing...) as a real human. A real guy who was a bit of a douche and a diva, but even more human for that. The great, mystical man of the videos in the flesh and blood... and Mile's dad, too. The subplot between Chang and Miles was oddly satisfying. I loved that surreal little moment where Miles watches his father play with his infant self, realizing that the ogre of a man he had long suspected his father to be wasn't quite the truth. Dr. Chang, armless and all, has been one of those Lost plots that has had the most effect. The gradual unearthing of new DHARMA videos was, during its day, as satisfying as a new Smokey moment. In a show whose nature is to ask questions (or barf out insanely bizarre imagery to force US to ask questions), the Dr. Chang videos provided those delightful moments of near comprehension. (on a random note, I always rhyme 'Halliwax' with 'Halifax' and it sounds very funny that way.) To Dr.... Waxdrippings! Thank god we found out his real name... they were running out of candle puns. Candelabran? Also, Bunny # 15 is epic. He travels through time. I SMELL A SITCOM!! *ahem* stock: ~su-Y |

"How often must the scoundrel prove himself a hero before he believes it himself."
And you totally summed up why I love Dr. Chang-- he seemed almost unreal and had this mythical quality, but then when we finally got to see him outside of those videos he became so human and real. And he's Miles' Papa, which automatically makes him awesome.
And #15 is adorable!
(On a technical note, I find it interesting that even for as earth-toned a color scheme, you seem to use a bright base color for the canvas)
