Description
This was a piece from a series I was working on at school. I was looking at 19th medical illustration, medieval bestiary illustration, and old printed fairy tale illustrations. They were then combined to make a new sort of visual language.
The 'trees' were originally constructed from various medical illustrations (can you find the prostate? ), and then made from the 'language' of medical illustration. Mmm, veins. This stemmed off from research about ways of knowing, particularly old, forgotten and/or abandoned ones.
This was one of those drawing-2-inches-from-the-surface drawings, done with tiny little pens. I used gray and black pens to try to give a tiny bit of depth to the image. Neck has a permanent crick now. Very stress relieving, though
will upload some details later

The whole landscape/background becomes so utterly creepy when you realise what they're made of. But, great work! The detailing is amazing!
And, I love the style the wolves are drawn in. Very eastern and medieval.
